I’m thrilled to share that our first AI Co-Creators research paper has been invited for full-paper submission to Interacting with Computers, published by Oxford University Press.

AI …Without the noise (or how we began)

In February of this year, (2026) I was featured in WI Life Magazine, as I talked about AI and being a tutor on VIA. Afterwards, I received some lovely messages from readers across the UK, saying what I wrote chimed with them and that they wanted to know more.

So! I created a three-question questionnaire and 300 people responded, and this is what I found:

People don’t want more AI hype.
They want clarity.

They want to understand:

  • what AI is, and what it is not,
  • what it can and cannot do,
  • and how to use it in practical, everyday ways.

The AI Co-Creators community

Based on these responses, I asked people to join me and we created the AI Co-Creators community. We shaped a course – in academic-speak we created a sociotechnical interactive artefact. (I know!) to give people what they actually said they needed and wanted — rather than starting with what the industry assumes people should want.

Our goal is to make AI something ordinary people can understand, talk about, and use confidently.

AI Co-Creators

This is so much bigger than how can I use AI. It is not a surface-level how to use AI course, it is about what it means for society and being able to say:

I understand what AI can, and cannot, do. 
I can explain it clearly to others. 
I can create and think effectively with AI.

I can have conversations about its appropriate deployment in society.

And, this is only the beginning.

We are working at the intersection where AI and real lives meet. It may get messy, but it’s where meaningful change happens.
